Alyssa Rodriguez

I never imagined I would become an endurance athlete—but the sport found me and completely transformed my life. My journey began in 2018, shortly after graduating from Physical Therapy school and completing my residency and fellowship. With extra time on my hands, I signed up for an Ironman, and the intensity and structure of training gave me a new sense of purpose outside of work. When my race was canceled due to COVID, I decided to do it anyway—self-supported. That “do it anyway” mindset carried me to my first 100-mile ultramarathon, also self-sufficient, and has since led me to complete multiple ultra-endurance events, from Ironmans to bike races to long-distance trail runs.

As a Boundless coach, I create personalized run programs for all distances, blending endurance training with corrective exercise and strength work to ensure athletes are healthy, resilient, and ready to thrive on race day.

My coaching philosophy is rooted in balance, specificity, and long-term sustainability. As a physical therapist, I believe in evidence-based programming that supports performance while minimizing injury risk. I strive to catch potential issues early, keep athletes consistent, and ensure they feel confident heading into their start line—mentally and physically.

I specialize in:

  • Running (5K to marathon)

  • Triathlon (sprint, Olympic, half, and full Ironman)

  • Ultra-endurance events

  • Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy, Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.

  • I work with athletes of all ages and experience levels—from first-time racers to seasoned endurance competitors.

I’ve completed 4 Half Ironmans, 3 Full Ironmans, and 3 100-mile ultramarathons. My proudest achievements include finishing my first full Ironman and 100-mile race independently when official events were canceled—choosing my own date, course, and finish line. As a coach, one of my most memorable experiences was helping a 40-year-old marathoner return to racing a year after major surgery. With consistent training and renewed confidence, she not only completed her marathon but has been setting new PRs ever since.

I chose Boundless Coaching because I’ve experienced the team’s dedication firsthand as an athlete. Boundless coaches are deeply committed to communication, consistency, and evidence-based training—values that perfectly align with my approach as both a coach and physical therapist.

Outside of coaching, I call myself a “professional unprofessional athlete”—unsponsored, but powered by the support of those I love. I enjoy traveling the world with my husband, making it a point to run or try something new everywhere I go. When I’m not training, you’ll find me reading, writing, volunteering at my church, or supporting visually impaired athletes through the Eye Can Alliance at the Houston Marathon.

I’m excited to help you achieve your goals—because nothing is impossible, and you are stronger than you know. Take the first step, and I’ll help you go the rest of the way.
